Bhubaneswar, Mar 22: For having a public statement against party leadership over Congress’ poor performance in the recently ended panchayat polls, the OPCC disciplinary committee has issued show cause notice to three senior leaders of the party including two MLAs. This is the second time that the committee issued notice asking the three leaders, Anant Sethi, Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Prafulla Majhi to give explanations as to why they should not be charged for letting out criticizing statements publicly against the state leadership. After receiving the notice, MLA and Opposition chief whip Tara Bahinipati intensified his voice against the discipline panel and said that the person serving the notice has little knowledge about the Congress constitution and what has been said has been said for the betterment of the party.
Notably, the three leaders had uttered criticizing statements against the AICC general secretary in-charge of Odisha BK Hariprasad and OPCC president Prasad Harichandan in public and also held them responsible for the party’s miserable performance in the panchayat elections. In 2012, the Congress had won 128 Zilla Parishad seats in the then held panchayat polls but this time it got only 60. The party became third coming behind the BJP in the polls.
