Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Bhubaneswar airport to introduce flight service to steel city Rourkela in September this year. An MoU regarding the same has been signed between the city airport authorities and the State Government. The flight service would be launched under the UDAN Scheme. This was said by the Bhubaneswar Airport Director R Mahalingam to media. The maximum fare would be Rs 2,500. The airstrip modernisation project is being carried out in Rourkela and it would be completed in next two to three months. There is a growing demand for flight operation between Rourkela and Bhubaneswar and Rourkela and Kolkata and if the private aviation companies get subsidy, the flight can be operated from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata via Rourkela. A six-member Central team paid a visit to the Rourkela airstrip and approved the same for the flight operation to the steel city from the capital city.
