Bhubaneswar/Cuttack, Apr 1: Utkal Divas in Odisha is celebrating to mark the foundation of the state on April 1. Tweeting on the occasion over social media, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi also wished the state on Utkal Divas.
Sharing a picture of his Puri visit Shri Modi has said:
The CM of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik, on the occasion also took the step to launch a “theme song” regarding the 82nd foundation day celebration of Odisha Police at Reserve Police Lines in Cuttack which is composed by Sarat Nayak and music is given by Subrat Routrary. This theme song will encourage the officers to discharge their duties with dedication.
Patnaik also appreciated the work of the police in maintaining the law and order.Apart from the theme song, a new “Smart Identity” was also launched on the 82nd foundation day of Odisha Police.
Notably, this day marks as the beginning of an independent state on linguistic basis, Odisha. It is also celebrated to remember the sacrifice of the people of Odisha for the formation of their new own state. In ancient times Odisha was named as Utkal which was a part of the Kalinga dynasty. Earlier a part of Bihar, Odisha became a separate province in 1936.
