Kalinganagar, Nov 19:
Production at the Kalinganagar steel plant inaugurated on Wednesday is expected to begin only around March next year.
Iron ore needed to run the steel plant has so far not reached the site and few units of the plant are yet to receive pollution board clearances.
The 3 Million tonne per annum (MTPA) plant is estimated to require five million tonne per year iron ore.
The company will source ore for the project from its Khandbandh captive mines in Joda circle of Keonjhar district.
Besides, some units of the plant like blast furnace, sinter plant and steel melting shop of the project, all critical to steel making, are yet to receive clearance from the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB).
