Transgender woman of Odisha files nomination for RS by-polls for first time

Bhubaneswar, May 12: Yesterday, to uttermost surprise, a transgender woman named Meghna Sahoo purchased the nomination form for the Rajya Sabha by-polls. Sahoo was the first person to purchase the nomination paper from the Odisha Assembly secretariat.

This transgender woman (30) is an MBA graduate and desires to become a member of the upper house so that all transgender issues can be discussed in the Parliament for a solution. Sahoo was accompanied by her other community persons as they went on a procession to purchase the nomination papers.

Sahoo stated to media that she will request for the support of all parties even the ruling one. She already has the support of the BJP. Sahoo, yesterday, met some of the BJP and Congress leaders and said that she will try meeting the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik today.

On the other hand, Patnaik has already announced former minister Pratap Deb to be the BJD candidate for the RS by-polls.
