Bhubaneswar, May 17: The state government today went through a grand workshop on Goods and Services Tax (GST) organised by the finance department at the Odisha Legislative Assembly, in order to train and educate legislators before the two-day special session that is scheduled to be held tomorrow to ratify the State GST Bill. The legislators were trained under the leadership of the officials of the State Finance department and representatives of the Government of India. During the workshop, they taught the legislators as to how the State will get benefits with the implementation of the unified indirect tax at the workshop.
Notably, the State Cabinet had approved the implementation of the GST on May 11. According to the new proposal, the new tax would be levied on all items except on liquor and five petroleum products.
The state government from tomorrow is going for a special assembly session to discuss on the proposed GST Bill. The Session is scheduled for May 18 and 19.
In the meanwhile, CM Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the special assembly conference hall, inside the state assembly.
