Jharsuguda, May 19: On Thursday, a couple is said to have committed suicide upon consuming poison in Machida village here as their families pressurized them to break off their relationship. Ramesh Pradhan of Machida village was in an extramarital affair with another married woman named Sujata Sunani of Hemagiri village in Sudargarh. Ramesh’s family members spotted the couple in Machida village. To get rid of public humiliation, the couple consumed poison. Later the villagers rescued them and took them to the Lakhanpur community health centre in a critical condition, but there they died. Two separate cases have been registered at the Rengali police station and investigation has begun.
