Bhubaneswar: August 29: Odisha Chief Minister spoke to Prof. Ashok Mahapatra regarding the health condition of Honey and Singh, the conjoined twins Jag Balia of Kandhamal, who are undergoing surgery at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and assured all sort of help for the treatment of children. A team of 40 surgeons including experts from Japan began separation surgery of Jaga and Balia yesterday at 4.45 am. The entire operation may continue for about 50 hours. The twins were shifted to the AIIMS on July 13 after initial health check-up at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack earlier in July. Odisha government had given Rs 1 crore financial assistance while Kandhamal administration gave Rs 1 lakh for their surgery.
The twins, born to Bhuan Kanhar and Puspanjali Kanhar of Milipada in Kandhamal district, are 27-months-old only and problems of their survival were increasing as they were growing older.
