Bhubaneswar: September 01: Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma assumed charge as Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha on Thursday. Immediately after joining as DG Police, he had been to Puri and offered his prayer to Lord Jagannath in Shree Mandir.
Dr. Sharma was on Wednesday appointed as the director general of police (DGP) of Odisha, according to a home department notification. Sharma replaced Kunwar Brajesh Singh, who had been holding the top post since November 2015. K B Singh got new posting as chairman and managing director of Odisha state road transport corporation (OSRTC). Sharma was rewarded with the prize post for having registered a record number of corruption related cases against public servants since joining vigilance in January 2016.
State Government also transferred Special DG (Crime) B K Sharma as DG (Prisons) and appointed, ADG(Prisons) Arun Kumar Roy to the Police Head Quarters, Cuttack.
