Cuttack: November 13: Noted Odiya Singer Chitta Jena is no more. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack today.
He has given many hit sings to Odisha Film Industry. His songs like ‘Mo Priya Tharu Kiye’, ‘Rupa Heithiba Labanyabati’, Udi gala Gendalia’ and ‘Ki Sundara Aaha Ki Ananda Maya’ are still in the hearts of Odiya listeners.
Members of Odiya Film Industry and his followers are deeply saddened by the unfortunate demise of veteran Odia singer Shri Chitta Jena.
Jena was born in the year 1941 and lent his voice for the first time in 1974 for the movie ‘Mana Aakasha’.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the demise of Jena and described him as a great singer. “His melodious and evergreen songs will immortalise him,” Patnaik said. He also conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
Members of the Odia film fraternity also mourned the death of the veteran singer. Several artistes and eminent personalities of the Odia film industry visited Jena’s residence in Cuttack and paid tributes to the departed soul.
