The Manabasa Gurubar,also known as Margasira Guruvar is a popular Puja dedicated to Goddess Laxmi, observed by the women of odisha. In this Puja they  worship Goddess  Lakshmi during all Thursdays of the Margasira month. People of odisha believe that Goddess Laxmi visit their homes in Margasira month.

As per the calender fallowed in Odisha and other North Indian states, Manabasa Gurubar 2015 dates are  November 26, December 3 , December 10, December 17 and December 24.

In 16th century Balaram Das written Laxmi puran and it was popular at that time .From that period it became a ritual in Odisha .

The procedure of Margashira Guruvara vrat is similar to Diwali Lakshmi Puja. This Vrat is observed to get comfort, peace and prosperity. Puja is performed in early morning of the day. Devotees read the  Lakshmi Puran. Mahalakshmi strotra is chanted on this day. Sri Mahalakshmi Aarti is performed at the end of the puja.
