Centre of Excellence on ‘Occupational Safety and Health’ inaugurated at KIIT

Bhubaneswar: February 18: KIIT Deemed to be University in association with BG BAU, Germany; BG ETEM, Germany and Indo German Focal Point, India has established the Centre of Excellence on ‘Occupational Safety and Health’.

The Centre of Excellence on ‘Occupational Safety and Health’ was inaugurated  by the Principal Secretary of Labour and ESI Department, Govt. of Odisha Ms. Anu Garg on 16th February, 2019. The centre will work for the safety and generation of health awareness for the labourers working in organized and unorganized sector.

International Social Justice and European Legal Unit Head  Iva Marie Hofor; Chairman ISSA Construction, Senior Mentor of DG UV Prof. Karl Hinz Notel;  Director of Indo German Focal Point, India Bimalkanti Sahoo; VC of KIIT DU Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty; Registrar and Director of the Centre of Excellence, Dr. Sasmita Samanta, were present and spoke on the occasion.

The guests were unanimous that due to lack of security and heath awareness at workplace, the workers face mishaps frequently.  They emphasized on creating extensive awareness among the labourers working in organized and unorganized sectors as well as possible disparity  raised between employer and employees. Moreover, they remarked that  awareness will also be created  about the  diseases originated from the workplace along with its symptoms.
