Odisha paid rich tributes to its brave Son Ajit Kumar Sahoo

Dhenkanal: June 20: A pall of gloom descended in Badasuala Village in Dhenkanal district today after the arrival of mortal remains of Odiya Jawan Ajit Kumar Sahoo, who was martyred in an IED blast by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The body reached the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar late last night and it was taken to the 120 Infantry Battalion Campus, where the slain jawan was given guard of honour.

Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and leaders of various political parties also paid their tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice.

Then, the body was taken to Dhenkanal Mini Stadium and further to his village in a grand procession.

Thousands of people gathered at Dhenkanal Mini Stadium and Badasuala Village to have last glimpse of the hero.

Mortal remains of the martyr were consigned to flames with full state honours as well chanting by the locals, ‘Saheed Ajit Sahoo Amar Rahe’.

On the fatefull day, a vehicle of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was attacked by an IED on its way at Arihal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Nine Jawans including Ajit Kumar Sahoo injured in the incident and further, while going through treatment, Odiya Jawan died.
