India registers 17,296 cases in single day; Total tally stands at 4,90,401

Bhubaneswar: June 26: India’s infection count surged to 4,90,401 after 17,296 new COVID-19 cases detected in 24 hours. This is the highest spike in a single day. 1,89,463 cases are active at present and are under medical supervision. 13,940 patients have been cured and so far 2,85,636 patients have been discharged from hospitals. India’s recovery rate has gone up further to 58.24%.

The death toll rose to 15,301 as 407 people succumbed to the disease.

Among states, Maharashtra has 1,47,741 cases, followed by Delhi (73,780), Tamilnadu (70,977), Gujarat (29, 520) and UP (20,193).
