Bhubaneswar: May 01: Odisha witnessed biggest single-day spike of COVID-19 Cases. In last 24 hours, it registered 10,413 new cases. Of this, 5887 people were in quarantine and rest 4526 cases are local contact cases.
Khurda district recorded 1796 new cases, which is highest among districts of Odisha. Almost 24 districts of the State reported more than 100 cases in last 24 hours.
Sundergarh district recorded 1100 new cases, followed by Cuttack 828 cases, Puri 533 cases, Bargarh 511 cases, Jharsuguda 442 cases, Sambalpur 426 cases, Nuapada 418 cases, Nawarangpur 378 cases, Kalahandi 376 cases, Angul 392 cases, Jajpur 332 cases, Mayurbhanj 247 cases, Jagatsinghpur 241 cases, Ganjam 232 cases, Nayagarh 218 cases, Bhadrak 201 cases, Rayagada 200 cases, Balangir 160 cases, Gajapati 156 cases, Sonepur 130 cases, Keonjhar 126 cases, Balasore 124 cases, Deogarh 103 cases, Boudh 87 cases, Kendrapara 77 cases, Koraput 68 cases, Kandhamal 55 cases, Malkangiri 54 cases, Dhenkanal 42 cases, and 360 cases from State Pool.
With this, total cases in Odisha increased to 4,54,607 and out of that, 3,85,414 persons have recovered from the disease. 5014 persons recovered from the infection in last 24 hours.
At present, 67,086 active cases are there in the State.
Odisha registered 11 fatalities in last 24 hours, H & FW Department said. Out of that, 4 are from Bhubaneswar only. Sundergarh district recorded 2 deaths, followed by 1 each from Boudh, Kalahandi, Koraput, Puri and Rayagada.
