Bibhuti Patnaik to get Kendra Sahitya Akademi award 2015

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: Noted Odia novelist and columnist Bibhuti Patnaik will receive the prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi award for the year 2015.

The award will be conferred for his collection of short stories ‘Mahisashura ra munha’.

Patnaik, who is virtually a household name in the state, received the Orissa Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985 for his novel ‘Aswamedhara Ghoda’.

His other popular novels are Sesha Basanta, Abhimana, Trutiya Purusha, Badhu Nirupama, Prathama Sakala and Sesha Ratira Surya. He has written more than 150 books and has been a trend setter in Odia novel.

The Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor, which the Sahitya Akademi annually confers on writers of the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognized by the Sahitya Akademi.

The award comprises a plaque and a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
