NALCO bags proactive Climate Change Award

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: The National Aluminium Company (Nalco) received Proactive Climate Change Award on Thursday.

Nalco Director (Production) V Balasubramanyam and AGM SK Naik received the award at a seminar, organised jointly by the State Pollution Control Board and the Indocan Technology Solutions, Institute of Engineers and the Institute for Applied Environmental Biotechnology Innovation on ‘Microalgae in developing a Sustainable Society’ here.

Attending as the chief guest, Nalco CMD Tapan Kumar Chand said, “Considering the exhilarating result that Nalco has achieved, we would scale up the pilot project to a commercial plant soon.” It is the first company in the country, implementing a pilot-cum-demonstration project on Carbon Sequestration in its Captive Power Plant, which would reduce carbon emission by harnessing special strains of algae.
