Commissionerate of Police arrested Four persons for their alleged involvement in illegal arms trade. One of them ‘Prakash Rout’ is an Odia Music Album Director.
Police nabbed them from Badambadi area in Cuttack, said Cuttack Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Prateek Singh.
The arrested persons have been identified as Prakash Rout alias Papu (35), Gyana Ranjan Sahoo alias Naba (40), Pramod Kumar Rout alias Jitu (43) and Susanta Parida (49).
Getting some information, a team from Badambadi police station nabbed the accused Gyana Ranjan Sahoo and seized one 7.65 mm country-made pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition from his possession, Singh said.
On questioning, Police got to know that, Gyana Ranjan has purchased the pistol from one of the accused Prakash Rout.
Prakash Rout procured arms and ammunitions from professional arms dealer Tukna Swain.
Similarly, two other accused were arrested for their involvement in the illegal arms trade.
The police has seized two country-made pistols and 16 live ammunition from the accused.
All four have been booked under sections 25(1)(a)/25(1-AA) of Arms Act.
