Ajaz Patel Becomes The Third Bowler To Take All 10 wickets
New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel (10/119) became only the third bowler to take all 10 wickets in an innings after Anil Kumble and Jim Laker.
Mumbai is the stronghold of cricket in India. It has gifted many cricketers to the Indian Cricket. But, today a player born in Mumbai became a problem for the Indian team.
Apart from Mayank Agarwal, no Indian batsman could understand the spin of Ajaz Patel. Ajaz took all 10 wickets for India. Ajaz has become the first foreign bowler to do so in India.
Ajaz was born on 21 October 1988 in Mumbai. When he was eight years old, his family shifted to New Zealand. After taking 5 wickets, Ajaz was seen kissing the ground.
Ajaz also helped New Zealand to draw the first test match. India was about to win the first test match against New Zealand at Kanpur. But, Ajaz had snatched the match away from India. Ajaz came to bat at number 10 in the first test match and remained till the end of the match. The Kiwi team had a target of 284 runs in the match, but New Zealand made the match draw by batting firmly on the last day.
Debutants Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel played a big role in making the match a draw. Rachin played 91 balls, while Ejaz also faced 23 balls while saving the wicket. The pair faced a total of 52 balls for the last wicket.
Resuming the day at 221/4, the India scored 64 runs in the morning session with the loss of two wickets. India lost Wriddhiman Saha (27) and Ravichandran Ashwin (0) off successive balls early in the first session before Mayank Agarwal (150) and Axar Patel (52) took the run tally past the 300-run mark. Jayant Yadav added 12 runs towards the end.
India became all out for 325 in their first innings on the second day of the second and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
