National Family Health Survey from January in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 24: The National Family Health Survey (NFHS), under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, would begin in Odisha from January 11.

The survey would cover 28,380 households in all 30 districts. The survey would be completed within six months. The Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) has been assigned by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry as the field agency to conduct the survey in the State.

The survey would be conducted in 1,419 primary sampling units (PSUs) in 30 districts.

Field investigators would collect data of village and households, and the health status of resident members.

The participation of households is voluntary and all information provided by households would be kept confidential and used only for research purposes.

The survey is aimed at developing a database in health and development issues that will help in the country’s planning establishment and welfare programmes.
