Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik flags up 30 new buses for Maoist-hit districts

Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday flagged off the 30 new buses under the third phase of Biju Gaon Gadi Yojana here.

The buses will ply on 28 identified routes in four Maoist-hit Nuapada, Gajapati, Deogarh and Sundargarh districts. The Government has sanctioned Rs 21 crore for the purpose.

The Yojana aims at providing transport to un-serviced and under-serviced villages in hilly, tribal and backward areas, said Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) CMD Sanjeev marik.

The State Government had launched the Biju Gaon Gadi Yojana in 2013-14. At that time, the Government had announced to cover 118 scheduled blocks in 12 districts Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Phulbani, Gajapati, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balangir.
