Pitrupakhya is considered by Hindus to be inauspicious ,given the death rite performed during the ceremony ,known as Sradha or Tarpan . It falls in the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada ( september-october ) begining with full moon day ( purnima ) that occurs immediately after Ganesh festival  , and ending with new moon day known as Mahalaya Amabasya . Pitrupakhya is a 16 – lunar day ,when Hindus pay homage to their ancestor ,especially through food offrings .

Bhagabatjanma;-

In Odisha ,being the full moon day of vadrab month counts to a ritual called Bhagabatjanma ,or the birth sacrament of Srimad bhagabata the consummate work of Atibadi Jagannath Das ,a milestone of odiya literature and a manifesto of Sri Jagannath culture .
