Mumbai:
Konkona sensharma, leading Bengali actress bagged honours for her role in Kadambari at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival while India’s Oscars entry “Court” took home the best director gong for Chaitanya Tamhane.
“Kadambari”, is directed by Suman Ghosh, and stars Parambrata Chatterjee and is based on the life of late poet Rabindranath Tagore and his controversial relationship with his sister-in-law Kadambari Devi.
Konkona twitted, “Thrilled to have received Best Actress award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival! ‘Kadambari’ Best Film
& Court had Best Director!”. “Court” is a commentary on India’s judicial system and Director Tamhane’s debut.
The three-day festival (September 25-27) closed with a movie “RoughBook”, directed by Ananth Narayan
Mahadevan.
