As a result of a stampede that broke out at a temple in Rajasthan, three people died and several others have been injured. According to reports, the tragedy occurred when devotees came for a monthly fair at the temple in Sikar, some 115 kilometers from the state capital of Jaipur.
Monday morning, the incident was reported at the Khatu Shyamji Temple in Sikar. Among those who were hurt, two persons were transported to a hospital in the state capital.

During the month of Saawan (monsoon) in the Hindu calendar, it is typical to find massive crowds in temples in various regions of the country. This year, crowds have increased due to the removal of pandemic-related restrictions.

It is believed that Khatu Shyam Ji Mandir in the Sikar district is an important pilgrimage site in the state. According to common belief, devotees offer prayers at the temple to get their problems resolved. Also, the temple is renowned for its architectural splendor.
