Anupam Kher announced the Hindi remake of the Odia film Pratikshya, which focuses on the dynamics of a father-son relationship. The announcement was made during the International Film Festival of India programme, where Anupam Kher shared the podium with the Odia film’s cast and crew.
The director of “Pratikshya,” Anupam Patnaik, stated that this is a momentous occasion for them and for the people of Odisha.
Anupam Kher announced that he will produce the Hindi film Pratikshya, in which he will play the role of the father. He gave Patnaik a nominal signing fee for the film’s rights.
It is the story of Sanjay, a boy from a middle-class family who is searching for a government job a few months prior to his father’s retirement. The story was inspired by a short story by author Gourahari Das. The family is in debt, and his father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, so his father insists that he find a job.
Sanjay learns about the government’s compassionate appointment programme, in which a family member is given the position of a deceased government worker. A frustrated Sanjay waits for the death of his father, only to realise he has a troubled mind. It is a film about family, particularly the complicated relationships between fathers and sons.
Odia feature film ‘Pratikshya’ has bagged best story award in the 11th Annual DC South Asian Film Festival held in Washington DC, USA.
It features Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Choudhury Jayprakash Das, Barsha Patnaik, Sreela Tripathy, Roopambika Nayak, Susil Mishra, Abakash Mishra, and Sidhant Mohapatra in a special role.
