Karanjia: Odisha has witnessed snowfall in Sundergarh’s Koida and in various areas of Mayurbhanj on Sunday morning with the temperature coming down below three degrees Celsius.
A thin blanket of snow was seen in open filed and above vehicles in many parts of the Koida area. The heavy frosting was mainly seen in Tensa, Kalta, Malda, Koida headquarters, Kasira area as temperature has plummeted in these areas. Earlier, a yellow warning for cold was issued for Sundergarh district.
Mayurbhanj is also experiencing severe cold conditions with temperature remaining below 3 degrees Celsius for the past three days. Similipal, specially, is experiencing bone-chilling cold. Heavy frosting was seen in Similipal.
Meanwhile, the coldwave has affected normal life of the people as it has become difficult for daily wage labourers, officer goers, students, and the old people to commute in this chilling weather. People are taking respite from the cold by sitting around fire places or bon fires.
With the drop in temperature, tourists are flocking to various picnic places to enjoy the cold and to bid goodbye to the year.
