Bhawanipatna: Protestors have called for a 12-hour strike in Bhawanipatna today. The MLA of Bhawanipatna Sagar Charan Das has called the strike against the paddy Katni Chhatni and mismagement in paddy procurement. He has blamed the government for all the discrepancies in paddy procurement.

MLA Das further said that,” if the demands of paddy procurement are not met at the earliest, then there will be more protests.” Das has targeted the state government over the irresponsibility in Mandi management, crop losses due to incessant rains and Katni Chhatni in paddy procurement.

He further alleged that in the Mandis the farmers are deceived. He said,”In a 50 kilo bag of paddy sold in the Mandis, the mandi owners deceive the farmers by weighing the paddy bags by 7 kilos less. They hoard the 7 kilos and give the money of only 43 kilos of paddy to the farmers. Further in the name of gunny bags and ropes to tie the bags, the farmers are looted.”

“All the promises of the Ministers seem to be arrows shot in the dark.” He threatened the government by demanding proper procurement process in the Mandis. He demanded transparency in paddy procurement at the earliest possible time.
