Bhubaneswar: The 76th Republic Day will be celebrated across the country. This time, Republic Day will be observed with grandeur in Odisha. For the first time ever, Republic Day will be celebrated on 10 islands off the coast of Odisha.
According to reports, the decision in this regard was taken after the Prime Minister spoke to the DG and the IG. The Coast Guard has identified the locations. This information was given by ADG Law and Order Sanjay Kumar.
He said that the police have tightened security on the islands. They are monitoring the areas so that no one creates any trouble. Security has been tightened across the state for the Republic Day. All the superintendents of police have been put on alert.
In addition, the surrounding areas are under strict CCTV surveillance. Security has also been increased in Naxal-affected areas also, the ADG Law and Order informed.
On the eve of State level Republic Day Parade 2025 and its rehearsal & full dress rehearsal, the following traffic restriction/ diversion will be effective on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg and its periphery on 22nd & 23rd January, 2025 from 2 PM to 6 PM, on 24th January, 2025 from 7 AM to 11.30 AM and on 26th January, 2025 from 6.30 AM onwards till the completion of parade/ function.
