Bhubaneswar: Today is the holy Maha Shivaratri 2025. A religious fervour has gripped the Shaivite shrines of the Odisha amid presence of thousands of devotees. On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri today, the atmosphere is vibrating with the sound of ‘Om Namah Shivaya’. A crowd of devotees has gathered for the darshan of Dev Dev Mahadev in the shrines of Lord Mahadev.

In the famous Lord Lingaraj temple in the capital city of Odisha, devotees are seen standing in long queues to have darshan of Lord Lingaraj seeking the God’s blessings. The temple gate was opened at 4 am in the wee hours of the day and then special rituals of worship were executed.

As per reports, the Mahadeep will rise to the temple top at 10 pm. When it comes to arrangement for security, forty platoons of police force have been deployed at the temple of Lord Lingaraj for swift darshan of the deity by the devotees. More than 200 police officers have been deployed while 100 CCTV cameras have been installed to keep a watch of every part of the temple premises.

Similarly, Mahashivaratri is being celebrated with pomp and show at the major Shaivite shrines of the state like Srilokanath Peetha in Puri, Vedbyas in Rourkela, Dhabaleswar in Athagarh, Kapilas in Dhenkanal, Akhandalamani in Aredi, Panchalingeswar in Balasore, Chandaneswar in Jaleswar, Bhusandeswar in Bhograi, Ladhubaba in Nayagarh, and Guptaswar in Koraput. Thousands of devotees are seen thronging all the Shaivite shrines.
