Bhubaneswar: Minister Works Prithwiraj Harichandan has said that there would be no room for any compromise on the quality of or delay in work of projects.
“The government is committed to providing better infrastructure to the people of the state. Therefore, there will be no compromise on the quality or delay in project work. For this, the departmental officers, chief engineers, superintendent engineers and executive officers will regularly monitor the work and review the progress of the work every month,” said Harichandan while taking a review of the projects worth more than Rs. 100 crore under the Public Works Department, including roads, bridges, and buildings, here today.
The departmental officers will continue their efforts to resolve the problems of the contractor and expedite the project work. Similarly, the agency or contractor taking charge will try to complete the work within the stipulated time frame by utilizing its human resources and technology, he said. “However, if there is a complaint against any agency regarding delay or quality in the project work, the government will never hesitate to take strong action,” he said, stating that in the coming days, emphasis will be given to previous performance while issuing project work orders.
The meeting discussed the progress of various construction projects including Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jaipur bypass roads, various other major roads, Koraput Hospital, Jaipur Hospital and Capital Hospital. Minister Harichandan also inquired about the progress of the construction of high-level bridges over various rivers in the state from the departmental officers, engineers and contracting agencies.
