Justice Harish Tandon seeks blessings at Srimandir

Puri: Ahead of his swearing-in ceremony as the Chief Justice of Orissa HC, Justice Harish Tandon visited Jagannath temple in Puri to offer his prayers and seek blessings from the Lord.

The Calcutta High Court judge will be administered the oath on March 26 by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati. He was given a grand welcome by District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain, SP Vineet Agrawal and the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration.

Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati will administer the oath of the office to the Chief Justice-designate at 10 AM at the eastern side lawn (Old Building) of High Court of Orissa in Cuttack. Judges and former Judges of Orissa High Court including other high dignitaries will grace the said function.

It is to be noted here on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Harish Tandon as the new Orissa High Court Chief Justice, which remained vacant since January 19 after Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh retired from the Odisha High Court. Since then, Justice Arindam Sinha has been performing the duties as the acting Chief Justice.

Justice Harish Tandon is currently the seventh senior-most High Court Judge in India. Justice Tandon was born on November 16, 1964. After graduating from the University of Calcutta in 1983, he obtained his LLB degree from the same university in 1989. He enrolled as an advocate on 26 September of the same year and started practicing. He is an expert in handling civil cases.
