Cuttack: Justice Harish Tandon has reportedly taken oath as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court a little ago today. Justice Tandon was sworn in by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati.
As per reports, Justice Harish Tandon was sworn in by Odisha Governor as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court today in the swearing in ceremony in Orissa High Court in Cuttack of Odisha on Wednesday.
All the Orissa High Court Judges were present on this occasion. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers, Law Minister and Revenue Minister were also present on this occasion. Besides, office bearers of High Court Bar Association, senior lawyers and dignitaries were present on this occasion held in the High Court premises.
It is to be noted here on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Harish Tandon as the new Orissa High Court Chief Justice, which remained vacant since January 19 after Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh retired from the Odisha High Court. Since then, Justice Arindam Sinha has been performing the duties as the acting Chief Justice.
Justice Harish Tandon is currently the seventh senior-most High Court Judge in India. Justice Tandon was born on November 16, 1964. After graduating from the University of Calcutta in 1983, he obtained his LLB degree from the same university in 1989. He enrolled as an advocate on 26 September of the same year and started practicing. He is an expert in handling civil cases.
