ASI Speeds Up Work Ahead of Ratha Jatra

Puri: In a high-level meeting held on Saturday with ASI Director Dr. Yaduvir Singh Rawat, the SJTA Chief Dr. Arabinda Padhee has given key details. The temple renovation and conservation of Puri Srimandir was discussed in the meeting.

The highlights of the meeting include the foundation of Srimandir, the renovation and the cultural heritage of the temple.

The following were discussed in the meeting:

  1. The renovation of the Srimandir and Garbhagriha premises before the upcoming Rath Yatra
  2. The conservation and repair work of the Ratna Bhandar that is yet to be completed
  3. Ramp facility to be completed near the North gate of Srimandir for the Dibyang and elderly
  4. Lighting in Srimandir and proposed AC facility in the Natyamandap
  5. Conservation of the Jagamohan roof
  6. Anti-lightning proof facility in the subsidiary temples of Maa Bimala, Maa Mahalakshmi, Surya, Nrushinga and Maa Bhubaneswari temples
  7. The steel infrastructure will be further strengthened in the Jagamohan and Bhogamandap
  8. Chemical cleaning and treatment of the Srimandir’s walls

Shree Jagannatha Temple Administrator Arabinda Padhee expressed his gratitude to the Director General of ASI and offered him dry Prasad. The Additional Director General Janhwij Sharma (Conservation and World Heritage), Bhima Ajmira, director (science) Manoj Bhatnagar, regional Director Dr. Dillip Khamari were also present in the meeting. Urban Development Administrator Debabrata Sahu and OSD Ashish Subudhi attened the meeting.
