Bhubaneswar: The regional Meteorological center has issued an orange warning for 5 districts in Odisha, including Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Rayagada, and Koraput. These districts are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds of 40-50 kmph.

A low-pressure has formed over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. It is expected to move northwards and intensify into a well-marked low-pressure within the next 24 hours. Due to its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Odisha for the next 4 days.

The weather conditions are favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance into Odisha, and it is expected to reach the state within the next couple of days. As a precautionary measure, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
