Affordable houses to middle-class

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha state government plans to provide affordable houses in Bhubaneswar to middle-class people, with housing options available in the price range of ₹15 lakh to ₹50 lakh. According to Krishna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the upcoming plan will cater to various categories of citizens, including MIG, LIG, LIG-1, and MIG-2.

The capital is already crowded. Bhubaneswar city will grow when people get houses, he said.

As per reports, the minister said that the dream of a house in the capital city of ordinary poor and middle class families will be fulfilled as Govt is going to provide the houses. Houses will be provided through lottery.

There will also be criteria for which category of people can apply. Rich people cannot apply. The government’s goal is to provide high-quality houses. The government has decided to build houses in PPP mode, he added.

Tenders will be called for the construction of the said houses. The government will also tie up with cooperative banks. The cooperative banks will take care of the maintenance of the houses and collect EMI, Mohapatra said.

The government will build these houses in the suburban areas of Bhubaneswar. People will also get houses in Cuttack. The government is planning to build affordable houses in metropolitan areas in the first phase. Cities will be expanded, people will get communication facilities.

In the next phase, the government will also provide affordable houses in other municipal areas of the state as per the need.
