The State Crime Branch has arrested two more people in connection with the Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College case, where a 20-year-old student reportedly self-immolated on July 12 after the internal inquiry committee did not substantiate her sexual harassment allegations. She passed away two days later, on July 14.

Crime Branch arrested the two for allegedly abetting the self-immolation of a 20-year-old college student, sources said. One of them is Jyoti Prakash Biswal, a college student who suffered burn injuries while trying to rescue the woman and the other one is Subhra Sambait Nayak.

Both of the suspects were brought to the SDJM Court in Balasore, where their bail requests were turned down. After that, they were sent back to judicial custody for 15 days.

Crime Branch sources say that during the investigation, convincing evidence was found that the two students were connected to the events that led to the girl’s extreme action. Reports say that forensic analysis, digital evidence, and eyewitness reports played a crucial role in building the case against them.

Earlier Samira Kumar Sahoo, who serves as an assistant professor, along with Dillip Ghose, the college’s former principal, faced arrest related to the case.
