Rayagada, Sept 1: In another incident that questions the ambulance service in the State, a pregnant woman of Palakhamana village under Singari Panchayat in Kalyansingpur delivered her baby in a Tata Magic van while on her way to the hospital as the ambulance didn’t turn up to reach the patient in time.
As per sources said, when the woman felt labour pain, the family members called the ‘102’ ambulance service. Getting no response from ‘102’, they also dialed ‘108’ to call for an ambulance. Left with no choice, as none of two ambulances reached to pick up the patient in time, the family members hired a Tata Magic van to take her to the hospital.
However, before they could shift her to the hospital, the woman delivered a baby boy midway in the vehicle. Later, for further treatment, the mother and her baby boy were admitted to the Kalyansinghpur Community Health Hospital (CHC) hospital. The condition of the woman and her baby are stated to be stable now.
