Agni-IV, nuclear capable missile probably to test fire today in Balasore, Odisha

Balasore, Jan 2: Nuclear capable Agni-IV surface-to-surface long range ballistic missile is likely to be test fired on Monday from the Abdul Kalam Island test facility of Odisha coast. The Missile will be test fired from a mobile launcher in the launching complex-IV. Weighing around 17 tons, the missile is 20 meters tall and can strike at a distance of 4,000 km. With the capability to meet global standards, it has been made with using various latest technologies.

The missile also has a submarine launch capability and it can be fired from a deeper location in the Indian hinterland thus posing difficulties for the enemies to track and destroy it.

It may be noted that earlier on Dec 26, India’s longest range missile ‘Agni-V’ had been test fired from the Abdul Kalam Island.
