Andhra Pradesh conducts Panchayat Election in disputed Kotia region

Bhubaneswar: February 13: Finally, Andhra Pradesh Government has conducted Panchayat Election in Talaganjeipadar, Patusineri and Phagunseneri village in Kotia despite Koraput Collector’s request to his Vizianagaram Counterpart not to go for election. Also, they have changed the names of the villages to Ganjeibadara, Pattuchennuru and Pagluchennuru respectively.

Accordingly, Andhra Administration has published a voter list of 1,025 voters.

On Friday, Supreme Court issued notice to Andhra Pradesh Government on a contempt petition filed by Odisha for notifying panchayat elections in the disputed border villages despite a status quo order from the top court.
