Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: Odisha’s capital city flags off the most awaited craft specific exhibition named as the Annual Terracotta Exhibition from today, Oct 20 and would be flaring off its beautiful Terracotta designs and styles till Oct 27. The exhibition is conducted at the IDCO Exhibition Ground at Unit-III in Bhubaneswar.
Smt Snehangini Chhuria, the Hon’ble Minister of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts will be inaugurating the “Mruttika-16” today at 6pm as the Chief Guest. Along with this, Smt. Chithra Arumugam, IAS, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Govt belonging to the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department will be the Guest of Honour of tonight’s function.
The annual Terracotta Fair is organised by the Directorate of Handicrafts & Cottage Industries to provide a platform to the artisans/SHGs/Co-operative societies to showcase and sell their products. As many as 65 stalls have been erected and approximately 130 artisans from different districts such as Keonjhar, Jajpur, Balasore, Sambalpur, Subarnpur, Bolangir, Rayagada and Khurda, Nayagarh, Baragarh, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack and Kendrapada participating in the exhibition.
To provide a platform for marketing of the products of the clusters and individual artisans, an exclusive craft specific exhibition in terracotta has been organized by the Directorate of Handicrafts and Cottage Industries since 2006.
