The four contractual employees of DRDO’s Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur in Odisha’s Balasore district are reportedly honey-trapped by foreign agents.
Police arrested them all for leaking secret information to the Pakistani agents.
The fourth accused has been identified as Hemanta Mistry. Other three accused arrested yesterday are, Basanta Behera, Tulu Behera and Sheikh Musaq.
Based on some inputs, District Police formed some teams to apprehend the accused persons. Further, accused persons were apprehended from their respective houses under Chandipur police limits.
Police sources informed, the agents contacted 4 accused on Facebook Messenger and later communicated over WhatsApp through voice and video calls using fake names. Also the agents gave money to these people for giving information.
Police registered a case against them under sections 120-B/121-A/34 of IPC-R/W and sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Official Secret Act for committing offence of causing serious harm to the security, sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
All the accused have been forwarded to Balasore SDJM Court today.
The intelligence reports stated, the accused received international calls mostly from Pakistan-Rajasthan border areas and passed secret information to foreign agents.
Such type of case also happened in Balasore earlier. A cameraman Iswar Chandra Behera, was arrested on January 22, 2015 on charges of sharing information regarding missile testing with a neighboring country.
Court sentenced the contractual photographer of the integrated test range (ITR) with life imprisonment on Feb’2021.
