Bhawanipatna, June 8: In a shocking incident, a youth detained by police over allegations of a theft at a grocery store, attempted suicide inside the Kegaon police station in Kalahandi district on the evening of Tuesday.
Identified as Dhananjaya Bag, a resident of Mahaling in the district, attempted suicide by stabbing himself with a broken bottle. Following to the incident he was immediately rushed to the Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital, but as his condition worsened, he was shifted to VIMSAR, Burla.
Following to the incident, the family, relatives and locals of the area have staged a dharna in front of the police station on Thursday, demanding immediate and safe release of the youth.
In the meanwhile, the family in another demand has said that the police will bear all his medical expense and then release him safely.
