Artha Tatwa chit fund scam: Group chief & Director sentenced, few others to go soon

Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: In involvement with the multi-crore chit fund scam, the special CBI court on Thursday sentenced Artha Tatwa Group chief Pradeep Sethy to a 7-year jail term, while group director Manoj Patnaik has been sentenced for a 4-year term.
Along with the imprisonment, the court has asked Sethy and Patnaik to pay a fine amount of Rs 30,000 & Rs 10,000 respectively.

Notably, Sethy & Patnaik, who had duped people of over Rs 500 crore, had confessed to their crime before the special CBI court yesterday, for which the court has ordered them to deposit Rs 250 crore along with has also sentenced them with jail term.

In another report, nearly 21 indicted, in the multi-crore scam may be booked by the special CBI court, today, for their involvement in the scam, said sources. The accused include eminent businessmen, media house owners, politicians, MLA and others.
