Puri/Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: Today the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will inform the Orissa High Court through an affidavit about its detailed plan on the portal frame design for repair work of the Jagamohan of Srimandir. This was informed by the Archaeology Superintendent of ASI Hemsagar Abhaya Nayak in Odisha capital. On the basis of the recommendations made by the ASI’s core committee which is formed to suggest on the design for the Jagmohan repair, the ASI director general (DG) has approved the portal frame design proposed by the Odisha Works department.

The ASI had been instructed by the Orissa High Court to submit an affidavit mentioning the deadline till which the work is to be completed and about the design prepared by the ASI.  The same was also demanded by the Servitors. As the earlier submitted affidavit by the ASI was not in a proper manner, thus the ASI was asked to submit a new affidavit. It had also been instructed by the court to provide appropriate information on the other details as well as the work which needs to be undertaken. The steel box type portal frame design which was prepared by the Public Work Department for the Jagamohan of Srimandir had been cancelled by the ASI. It also gave its disagreement on issuing a no-risk certificate. It had sought a no-risk certificate from the Odisha government. After the ASI’s disagreement, a letter has been issued to the ASI DG by the Secretary of the PWD. In the letter the PWD mentioned that the ASI, keeping in mind the safety and no risks, should prepare a design if it finds the design prepared by the PDW not satisfactory. The ASI may prepare the appropriate designs even by the help of its experts and no one would prevent it from doing so.
