Gop, Oct 27: In an attack by two miscreants on Thursday at Subarnapur, Niranjan Mohapatra, Gop block vice chairman sustained critical injuries.
As per the information, while Mohapatra was going to his office, the duo attacked him with a sword and fled from the spot immediately.
After the attack, Mohapatra who sustained critical injuries on his hand and fingers, was rescued by the locals and admitted at the Gop Community health centre. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Police has started an investigation into the matter. Even though the exact reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, police suspects political rift to be a reason behind this.
In another attack incident six months ago, Mohapatra was attacked by a group of miscreants.
