Baripada, May 25: In another case of child abandonment, a newborn baby girl was rescued by a woman from the forests of Krushnachandrapur earlier, day before yesterday.
The woman who had gone to the forest to fetch firewood, after hearing cries, noticed and took the baby with her and handed over to the district child protection officer today.
The baby at present is under observation at the Baripada hospital.
However, the district child welfare committee is taking all necessary steps to find her legal guardian, said sources.
