2.2 crore LPG connections under PMUY in One year: Over 10 lakh in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 11: The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), which was launched by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on May 1st , 2016 in Balia, Uttar Pradesh has completed it’s one year on May 2nd 2017.

As on May 1, 2017, PMUY connections has crossed the 2.2 crores mark in the country. In the state of Odisha about 10.89 Lakhs (1089686) new connections has yet been issued to BPL women. These connections are being released through 547 LPG distributors across the state.

Government Of India under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Honble PM and the guidance of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honble MOS(I/c), P&NG has released 174.35 crores towards the cost of a LPG Connection under the scheme in the state of Odisha. In addition an amount of 80.84 crores has also been contributed by Oil Marketing Companies under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, GOI towards the soft loan for procuring refills & LPG Stove.

LPG coverage in terms of penetration when comparing with active customers with calculated current households has increased from 20.0 % in June 2014 to 43.0 % at present.

As envisioned by MoPNG, Shri Pradhan a minimum of 30.0 lakhs new connections are proposed to be released in Odisha before 2019.
