BHUBANESWAR, OCT 3: Members of both India and South Africa teams arrived in the Capital City today amid tight security in the twin city for the Barabati T20 match on Monday.
Players and officials checked into Hotel Mayfair Lagoon this evening after reaching here in a chartered flight from Dharamsala where South Africa beat India beat India by seven wickets in the opening encounter of the ongoing cricket series.
The Twin City Police Commissionerate has made elaborate security arrangements for the match.
As many as 25 platoons of police forces have been deployed in Bhubaneswar to look after the security of the players during their stay in the Capital City and travel to and from Barabati Stadium. At least 10 platoons have been kept on duty at Hotel Mayfair Lagoon.
Briefing media persons about the security arrangements here today, Twin City Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma said, ”Three-tier security arrangements have been made for the players. Besides 25 platoons of forces deployed in Bhubaneswar, 60 platoons have been put on duty in Cuttack to look after the security in and around Barabati Stadium.”
“As many as 150 CCTV cameras will be installed inside and outside Barabati Stadium to keep a close watch on the spectators and the crowd during the match. This apart, four quick response teams (QRT) will be deployed for emergency operations,” Sharma said.
The players of both the teams were accorded traditional welcome on their arrival at Hotel Mayfair. The hotel authorities have made elaborate arrangements to make the players’ stay here a memorable one.
Cricket enthusiasts in the Twin City look forward to better performance of the Indian team which lost the first match of the 3-match series.
Players of both teams will travel to Barabati Stadium tomorrow for net practice, said sources in Odisha Cricket Association adding that all tickets have been sold out for the match which will be held at 7pm on Monday.
