BDA submits newly prepared Town Planning Scheme to the State Government for approval

Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: With a view to modernize urban amenities, benefiting 3,000 people owning 746 hectares in the outskirts of the city, a newly prepared Town Planning Scheme has been sent by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to the State Government for its approval, on Friday.

As per the new plan, road, drain, water supply, sewerage and electricity supply will be provided to the land owner. Along with this, schools, health care centre, shopping area, playgrounds, police station, fire station, sports complex, houses for economically weaker section will also come up.

A land owner can avail such type of facility by just paying 40 to 50 percent of the proportion of their original land. Compared to this, in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, 60 to 70 percent of the proportion of the land has to be sacrificed by the land owners there to avail the services under Town Planning Scheme.

All the schemes will be scrutinized by the Housing and Urban Development Department and for the evaluation and review purpose, a valuation officer will be appointed.

However, as per the provisions in the Odisha Development Authority Act, 1982, if the Department does not revert within six months after the submission of the scheme, the submission would be considered as approved.
