Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Over eviction of an encroachment, Begunia BJD MLA Prashant Jagdev has been alleged for assaulting Bolagarh Tehsildar Niharika Nayak.
A cease-work stir was launched by the staff of the Bolgarh Tehsil office today as a token of protest and they also staged dharna at the office premises. For this alleged assault, they demanded arrest of the Begunia MLA.
As per the information from the Bolagarh Tehsildar, she was forced to carry out eviction of some encroachments in the night by the MLA. When she told him that she would do as required after conducting land measurement today morning, the irate MLA hit her and went away for eviction. She got hit by a lantern that the MLA threw at her from a house due to which she fell down.
Refusing these allegations, the MLA said that he brought a matter of encroachment of an under construction road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) by a person to the Tehsildar’s notice yesterday evening after which she even agreed to carry out the eviction. But she later called him at night and said to clear out the issue through negotiation. He began talking to the person and wife in the house as the Tehsildar did not reach the spot on time. However, the person and the wife abused him and another person present there out of anger threw a lantern at him. He said that the Tehsildar did not get hit by the lantern even though she was coming at the spot at that time.
